Building Progress

Thanks to several special gifts we are moving ahead with equipping the Parish Activity Center. We have received cashdonations to equip the kitchen. We will order stove, oven, refrigerator, hot serving table, and work tables this coming week. We received a 14 foot stainless steel sink as a donation. We also received a donation to pay for 250 padded folding chiars for Carpenter Hall, along with three chair caddies for storage. Cash flow will also allow us to purchase new tables for us in Carpenter Hall and table caddies for storage.

David Harig has finished a new pulpit to go with the altar he built.

Fund Raisers

I only reluctantly approve fundraisers. My basic position is parish groups may raise funds for mission. The LIGHT only raises funds to promote Right to Life causes and agencies. St. Martin de Porres only raises funds for charitable use. While the Knights of columbus have pledged a monthly gift to the parish, their fund raisers are only to promote the good charitable works of the Knights and their mission.

The kitchen and other PAC expenses will be paid for out of the Offertory and the existing Capital Campaigns. I encourage those who have not made a pledge to do so.

Giving for Mission

The Bible requires a ten percent tithe in thanksgiving for all God has done. The Church uses it for the sake of mission, namely continuing God's work. When we "short change" our offering, the Church is handicapped in its efforts to promote the Kingdom of God. We spend a lot of time in fund raisers that should be spent in mission. If the pastor is always worried about money to run the parish, then he is not free to minister as he should be.

The first reason to give is THANKSGIVING.
The second reason to give is FULFILLING THE POTENTIAL OF OUR MISSION
